As if there wasn't already enough temptation in Sin City - now there are Las Vegas pool parties to distract the millions who come to the city for a wild time. A Las Vegas pool party is, well, exactly what you would expect: it's a daytime recreation of the lusty wilderness of a Vegas nightclub, complete with house DJs, overpriced drinks and thin, tanned bodies writhing on the dancefloor. Just replace the dim, pink and green lights of the nightclub with the welcoming glow of the midday sun, and you have the newest trend in entertainment - Las Vegas pool parties.

It all began with the Rehab pool party, located behind the Hard Rock Hotel. Still going strong, it's considered the hippest place to work off your hangover - the pool party starts at noon and lasts until the sun goes down, and offers all the fruity drinks, hot tub action and even poolside blackjack tables just in case you actually came to Las Vegas to do some gambling. Clubwear is shunned in favor of bikinis and board shorts, as the Rehab pool party is just as the name would suggest - it mixes the party lifestyle with the relaxation of the sand and surf, a combination that has proved eminently successful since its inception in 2002.

But it wouldn't be the strip if there wasn't some friendly competition. Many hotels now offer similar Las Vegas pool parties, and now you don't even have to wait until Sunday to enjoy them. The Bare Las Vegas pool party has grown in renown since it's opening at the Mirage, and subtly offers "European-style sunbathing," the most obvious euphemism in the history of euphemisms. Open five days a week, it also opens the earliest of any of them (for instance, the first Rehab pool party of the year doesn't come along until the conclusion of April), and features nearby dolphins at play, along with the usual trappings. The entrance fee is a little bit steeper than the other Las Vegas pool parties.

The newest Las Vegas pool party is angling to replace Rehab at the top of the list when it comes to this form of entertainment. The Tao Beach Club at the Venetian is playing off its nightclub of the same name, which is always the hippest, most exclusive nightclub in Vegas at any time of the year. And now they are branching out into the pool party scene, offering Sunset Sundays at 7pm, where the party lasts well into the night. Who needs nightclubs when you have so many pool parties to choose from?

Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein was to have played at Las Vegas's Rain Nightclub Friday night, doing what he does best. And while he wasn't there physically, spiritually he was everywhere.

In tribute to the celebrity DJ, whose lifeless body was discovered in his Manhattan apartment Friday, a single floral arrangement sat near the deejay booth while employees of the club wore shirts bearing his face and Nike shoes to honor DJ AM, a self-proclaimed "sneaker head."

The memorial on what was meant to be one of Rain's big nights – dubbed "AM Fridays" – also featured a 60-second moment of silence at midnight.

"Today is a sad day in the nightlife community and an especially somber time for DJs across the world," DJ ROB, who sat in for AM in the deejay booth, told the crowd before the moment of the silence. He added that AM "has single handedly brought nightlife and DJs from around the world to another level."

Though AM was only a resident DJ in Palms Hotel's nightclub since late April, the hotel honored him in a way for all of Vegas to see Friday night by turning off the signage lettering that runs down the side of its building and leaving only the "A" and "M" (of the word "Palms") fully illuminated.

Thanks to Justin Timberlake, drinks were on the house for some lucky Las Vegas clubgoers Tuesday night.

The singer made a surprise appearance at Palazzo Las Vegas's Lavo, treating everyone in the club to a free shot of 901 tequila, the liquor he created and named after the area code of his hometown of Memphis, Tenn.

"This is a very special evening," he told the capacity crowd at 1 a.m. "Me and my buddy started a homegrown tequila down in Mexico and I wanted to make sure you guys got a taste, so I bought everyone in the bar a shot."

As the partiers, including girlfriend Jessica Biel, raised their shots in glasses bearing the name "901", Timberlake said, "We should all believe in something and I believe it's time for another shot of tequila."

Later, Timberlake took to the microphone to beatbox while DJ Samantha Ronson played songs. Eventually, he moved on to the role of hype man, pumping up the crowd, saying "What's up, Las Vegas?"

When he wasn't working the mic, Timberlake was spotted hanging out at his VIP table with Biel, his best friend Trace Ayala, and his business partners in the tequila company.

And Timberlake is looking to expand his VIP circle: The singer posted a video on the 901 Web site calling all fans to submit their "biggest and coolest idea" to market the tequila. Along with earning a $25,000 signing bonus and a trip to Vegas for the Justin and Friends concert, the winner will also be dubbed Executive Vice President of Big Ideas for 901, which Timberlake says "sounds superfancy ... That's because it is."

Timberlake will be returning to Vegas in October for a few more rounds – albeit, rounds of a different kind – as he hosts The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
