Dear friends,

I am asking for your help with a new endeavor that my children, Teddy and Mellie, with my support, have started. We are calling it Klaasical Music.

The mission is simple. There are many people who have musical instruments laying around that they no longer use. At the same time, there are many public school students who want to learn music but can't afford the instruments. We want to help bridge the gap.

With virtually no effort so far they have already collected a flute, two clarinets, a drum set and a guitar from just one generous and kind family. Those instruments will be put to use immediately and will be distributed this week to new music students at Crabapple Middle School. Our guess is that literally hundreds or maybe even thousands of neighbors would be willing to donate their unneeded instruments to give a kid a chance. So, what do you say?

Donations of instruments, music stands, sheet music and accessories can be dropped off at our home or we can arrange for pickup. They will be cleaned up and distributed to Crabapple Middle School, Roswell North Elementary and others in the area and then ultimately to those students with financial needs as determined by the respective music directors at each school.

Thank you for your generosity. Please help to change a child's life by giving the gift of music. Please also help to spread the word by any means possible. A new Facebook page is has been established (Klaasical Music) where you will be able to find additional information. We welcome any ideas or suggestions.

Let's see where we can go with this! Thank you!

Teddy, Mellie (and Ed) Klaas
