GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for providing professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary contact between patients, staff and physicians.

Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
2. Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment.

Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating

treatment plans for health problems and follow-up. Evaluates the quality

of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.

3. Coordinates prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon

laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, and

therapeutic measures, in accordance with written practice


4. Requests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care.

5. Dictates progress notes and follow-up letters to referring physicians with

summaries of treatment, response, and plan.

6. Interprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests.

7. Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.

8. Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, side effect information.

9 .Maintains patient confidentiality.

10.Maintains/reviews accurate patient records, charts and other pertinent information, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.

11. Provides back-up support for administration of prescribed medications, chemotherapy and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and practice policies and physician orders.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with two years of oncology. 1-2 years advanced practitioner experience to include at least one year inpatient experience.

REQUIREMENTS: Current nursing license in the state of Georgia, current CPR status. National certification in oncology preferred.
