JOB SUMMARY 13;
The summer internship program is May:August 2018 and provides current college/graduate students the opportunity to work on meaningful, project:based assignments in various non:clinical areas. Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring one intern to assist in a technical discovery and documentation project in Childrens Business Intelligence department. The Data Services team is responsible for designing and maintaining data solutions used by business applications as well as for reporting and analytics throughout the organization. SQL Server and Oracle solutions integrate with numerous enterprise systems, supported both internally and by various vendors.

:Progression toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Technical Writing, MIS, or similar is required

:Ability to interpret and create structural models including class diagrams highly preferred
:Prefer at least some of the following (the more the better)
:Experience with modeling tools such as Visio or ER Studio
:Ability to interpret and create common UML models including activity diagrams, swim lane process diagrams
:Understanding of OO concepts
:Understanding of basic networking concepts
:Understanding of typical database and application server implementations
:Ability to perform basic SQL queries
:Ability to code in PowerShell, Bash Scripting, and/or Python
:Classroom or work experience with MS SQL Server or Oracle preferred

The goal of the Technical Discovery and Documentation project is to consolidate existing environment and process information into standards:based artifacts for future utilization. Some of the information is not documented at all and must be elicited from technical staff and various SMEs.
There are three main areas of focus for this project:
:Data Environment Documentation
:Database and server environment maps
:Data asset inventory
:Data flow diagrams
:Vendor dependencies

:Data Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
:Scenario:based process documentation for standard tasks performed by technical staff, including DBAs and Data Warehouse Engineers.

:Major System Dependencies and Data Flow
:UML:based mapping of major underlying systems and their dependencies
:Inventory of automatic processes including their trigger conditions, supportability, dependencies, and other key information
:
After initial training and orientation, the intern will work with a great deal of independence to meet their deliverables. The intern, however, will have support of at least one Childrens Business Analyst and Technical Writer when needed to assist in the documentation expectations and provide further training where needed.
